This is a very nice cable railing installed in a beautiful backyard setting. The railing was setup with top plates for a wooden top rail. A stand-alone stair railing was later added to provide access to the back yard with a graspable aluminum grip rail to meet code.
When coupled with a wooden top rail, our Alu-Rail™ aluminum railing system can be setup with either top plates or an aluminum sub-rail. We often use the sub-rail with composite materials such as Trex™. Composite decking materials expand and contract with weather fluctuations and typically are unsuited to use in a system under tension. The sub-rail creates a stand-alone railing that meets code and allows the composite top rail to be used for aesthetic purposes.
